HOME FREE (Mason Douglas)

I’m a soldier – that’s what I am
Maybe you don’t agree with me or just don’t understand
Just like you, I’ve got a home and family
And I leave it all behind when you call on me, so

And I will fight for what is right
For my country, for my stars and my stripes
And I’ll stand tall ’til the day I die
And if I fall, I’ll have my brothers by my side
And I may come back home to a big parade or to my name carved in stone
But either way, don’t shed a tear for me
Yeah either way I’m comin home…
And I’m comin home free

It’s an uphill battle all the time
But it’s what I do for you to sleep safely thru the night
And I’ll be on my way home when the gun-smoke clears
When we all live to love another day, it’s all downhill from there

CHORUS

Yeah I may come back home to a big parade or to my name carved in stone
But either way, don’t shed a tear for me
Yeah either way I’m comin’ home…
And I’m comin’ home free

MASON DOUGLAS'S FULL BIO

Mason Douglas is attracting loyal fans throughout Nashville and beyond with his entertaining up beat songs, as well as, his deeply personal songs. As a true entertainer, it doesn't hurt that he also has a quick wit and truly twisted sense of humor.

“I am extremely excited to have “Home Free,” (an emotional and touching song describing what a soldier will do for his country), included on Adroit Records debut compilation CD,” says Douglas. “This is the perfect opportunity to get this song into the hands of our military friends and families and into the hearts of anyone who listens.”

“The first time I heard Mason sing this song, it gave me chills,” states Adroit Records president and producer Jim Tract. “I was fascinated to watch the veterans in the audience line up to shake his hand after the show and share their appreciation with him,” Tract continues. “That spoke volumes to me. Because this song does not choose sides, I thought it would be perfect for our first release and I’m thrilled that Mason has chosen to share it with us.”

Douglas has announced that he will be donating his portion of the proceeds from this recording to the ALS Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to increase public awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gherig's disease).

Adroit Records, who recently sponsored and staged  an ALS benefit show at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, will match Douglas’s contribution to help strike out ALS.
